Choosing Domain Names
Before you decide to become the next domain mogul you have to figure out which domains you should buy.  The more time you spend learning the right domain names to register the more money you'll make.  The basics are always the same when choosing a domain name.  You first have to decide what your goal is for the name:  Park it, Resell it, Sale it to an End-User, Develop and Keep it, Develop and Sell it or have it just for fun.  It's extremely important to keep your chosen goal in mind because it should determine which domain names you register.

A real quick definition of each goal:

Parking - Various companies can provide a single web page that is basically one big Google\yahoo ad page this is called Parking.  You get paid when people click on the ads.  It's fairly easy to do and does not take much time once your setup.

Reselling - You can register domains and then resell them to other domainers who are looking to invest in domains.  You will not make as much money as selling to an end user, but it usually takes less time to sell.

End User Selling - Sell the domain to a user who will use it for their business.  Usually pays a premium compared to reselling.

Develop and Keeping -  You can develop the domain and include some Google\Yahoo ads.  Then keep the domain for the cash flow from people clicking on the ads.

Develop and Selling - Develop a domain with the intention of selling it.  If you have the skills you can make good money doing this, but you have to develop it the right way not necessarily how would like it.

Fun - You can always register a domain for you and park it or develop it.  It's a great way to learn the basics of developing without a lot of cost.

To keep things easy to find we have split out the information on "How to Choose a Domain Name" based on those 6 goals for a domain name.  Please take a look at the section that applies most to you at this time.  If your new and not sure what you want to try first ask yourself a couple questions.

1.  Do you have any web design experience, meaning can you build a web page? - if not skip the developing for a little while until you understand the industry better.

2.  Do you have time to keep checking on the domains and re-listing them in auctions, forums, or contacting the end users to sell it too?  -  if you don't have a lot of time and your just starting out parking is probably the best option, however this does take some time to research the domain names that can be successfully parked.

3.  Do you like to "wheel and deal", meet people online, try to make things happen? - If yes, then taking a look at either reselling or selling to an end user.

Those are just a few questions to get you started there is a lot more information in the sections for each goal, but the first thing you have to decide is why do you want to buy domain names!

Before moving onto domain parking and developing take some time to read the section on Choosing Good Domain Names.
