Domain Registration - List of Registrars

You have decided on the right domain name to buy and all you need is the domain registrar to buy it from.  We have tried to list all the major Domain Registrars, but we can't promise we got all of them.  We have even tried to right up a brief introduction for each of the registrars to give you an idea what they are about and their main advantages.

Please take the time to research the best domain registrar for you.  We recommend you follow the guidelines in Selecting a Registrar and check out the domaining forums to get up to date reviews from fellow domainers.

Godaddy.com

Probably the most well known registrar due to their high profile TV commercials played on the Super Bowl.  They also happen to have some of the lowest prices around especially if you're buying domain names in bulk.  If so check out their domain discount club program.  Of course since they make so little on registering domains they try to make up for it by up-selling you on everything from web hosting, privacy screening, forums, to having your own e-mail addresses.  This unfortunately takes some time, but if you scroll to the bottom of all these offers they do offer you a "No thanks" quick checkout button that allows you to bypass a lot of these offers.

Another advantage for Godaddy and something to keep in mind is that many people already use them as a domain registrar.  So if your buying and selling domain names it's easier to transfer a domain name from your Godaddy account to another Godaddy account as opposed to another domain registrars.  We should point out that Godaddy is our main domain registrar so we are biased.

Moniker.com

Almost all domainers at least know about Moniker.  They are known for providing the best security for domain names in the industry.  Security can be very important especially if you have put thousands of dollars into your domain name.  On the other hand it does take longer to affect domain name transfers from Moniker due to the extra security.  Otherwise their cost is higher than Godaddy, but not by a whole lot and they have a solid domain configuration system.

Enom.com

A lot of domainers prefer Enom because of the easy domain configuration system they have.  More than likely you will sign up with one of their domain resellers as they try to drive business to their resellers.  They do this by charging a higher price for domain name registration on their web site and offer discounts that domain resellers can pass on to their clients.  One advantage of Enom is that transferring domain names is done in one step as opposed to the multiple steps required by other domain registrars.  They also have a good interface if you want to check out other domain extensions like .tv, .asia, etc..

NetworkSolutions.com

As one of the first domain registrars in business, umm I should say the first domain registrar in the business they have great name recognition.   However, they are probably the highest priced domain registrar on the market.   They also have this neat trick of reviewing domains you have searched for and locking them up for few days in the hopes you'll buy it and to prevent others from buying it up.  This seems nice, but if you try to research domain names on Network Solutions and then try to register them on other domain registers you'll find them marked as taken until they let them go usually in 3-5 days.
