Choosing Domain Names > PPC Bid Rates
In order to determine which domain name to register you have to not only research solid keywords you also need to know if those keywords are worth something.  PPC stands for Pay per click advertisers pay Google, Yahoo, etc. for each time someone clicks on their ad.  Our goal is to get a part of that for advertisements on our pages whether parked or developed.  If you are looking to monetize your web site PPC and affiliate programs are the key.  So you are looking for higher PPC rates when registering most domain names.  Of course if you own DVDs. COM the PPC rate may be low buy you make up for it in volume.

When are deciding to register a domain name research the PPC rates and see how many advertisers are listed when you Google the keywords from the domain. For example if I can only register one domain and I find AmericanCivilWar.com is available and understandingsecondmortgages.com is available which do I choose.  Well if don't check out PPC bids AmericanCivilWar.com looks better.  The reality is that there no ads on Google when I search for American Civil War and therefore no PPC. Whereas Second Mortgages has a PPC of $26.56 so I would really need 1 or 2 clicks to make it worth registering. Please remember that if no one types in understandingsecondmortgages.com I'll have to develop the site.

There are different tools for finding out PPC bids and also some site that provide the highest bids for free.  There are also different sites that will provide that information for a fee or you can register a Google Adwords account and find out.
