1. Don't Research the
Business - So many people start in this business without
bothering to research anything about domaining. They
just think of names they like, that sound cool, or would
be sites they would go to. Once they have there list of names
they immediately pull out the credit card and start
registering the names. I know this because I did some
research, well okay less than anyone reading this and that's
exactly what I did. There's a link below to some of the
not very good domains I registered.
2. Having NO idea what
Product or Service a domain name can be used for - If you have
no idea what this name could be used for no matter how good it
sounds or that the two words look good together you'll never
sell it. If you can't figure out what business it
relates to don't register it.
3. Don't use the tools that
are available - If you only depend on one tool such as
searching Google for your domain names you'll end up
registering hundreds of useless names. Use every tool
you can find, we have listed a lot of them under
Resources for Choosing Domain Names.
4. Don't try to
get all the keywords and combine them into a domain name.
Even though Atlantic city, gambling, poker, blackjack are
great key words. That does not mean that
atlanticcitygamblingpokerblackjack.com is a good or even
remotely good name. Yes, you could develop it but will
people remember it to come back to your site.
